"Originally from the Ottawa Valley, I met Blair and had a chance to see a sample of his unique, one-of-a-kind rustic furniture. I particularly liked a live edge, root ball coffee table he had but unfortunately it was too large for our family room. After some discussion I commissioned Blair to design and construct a Red Elm live edge, with burl, root ball coffee table along with two Red Elm “bookmarked” end tables with shelves. It was a year plus long project because the wood had to be thoroughly dried before he could begin construction. When the tables finally arrived in Calgary, we could not have been more pleased with the outcome. Everyone who comes over to our house comments on the undeniably unique design and quality of the workmanship. After getting so many comments on our red Elm coffee table and end tables we decided to embark on another project with Blair. He had built a unique dining room table base with a 55-inch glass top. Again, it was too large for our kitchen, so we commissioned Blair to design and build a smaller Red Elm table base to support a 44-inch glass tabletop along with a Red Elm Lazy Susan (turntable) for the centre of the glass top. Blair found the perfect piece of Red Elm from which to make the base. The Red Elm base has a large two-tone burl at the bottom that gives the impression of a burl within a burl. Along with the barbed wire fence that had grown into the original tree trunk produced an incredibly unique, one-of-a-kind kitchen table. The functional Lazy Susan turntable was essential to complete the rustic kitchen table look. Yet again everyone who comes over to our house praises the design, quality of workmanship and the uniqueness of Blair’s creation. If you are looking for a unique, one-of-a-kind piece of rustic furniture I would strongly recommend you talk with Blair. He has the uncanny ability to envision what you desire and can certainly deliver with his exceptional attention to detail. Blair is a true Artisan, and currently working on a third project, a Red Elm Console root ball table, for us as I write this."
